3rd Water JPI Conference in Mülheim
The 3rd Water JPI Conference will take place on November 17, 2021 in the German city of Mülheim an der Ruhr. This year’s motto of the transfer-oriented hybrid conference is "From Research into Practice: Pollutants, Pathogens and Antimicrobial Resistances in the Water Cycle". Participants can join the event physically on site at the Stadthalle Mülheim or connect online.
The conference, hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), aims not only to bring together European and international water experts and researchers, but also to increase the participation of European institutions in Water JPI activities and the European Research Area as a whole. For this reason, mainly representatives from politics and the European Commission will be involved. In addition, the conference also addresses companies, associations, institutions, municipalities and utilities.
Experts from various European countries and member states of the Water JPI, as well as the European Commission will report at the transfer event on challenges and approaches to solutions from the perspective of research and practice. Two parallel sessions will address the topics "Chemicals" and "Pathogens and AMR". Furthermore, the 18 transnational research and development projects of the 20 million Euro call in the ERA-Net Cofund "Aquatic Pollutants" will be presented.
Plenty of time is planned for discussions and exchange of experiences. The recently published program of the 3rd Water JPI Conference is available on the conference website.
Highlights in the program include video pitches from the nominees of the Junior Water Jump, a start-up event showcasing innovative solutions to pollutants, pathogens and antimicrobial resistances in the water cycle. Participants from five European countries submitted their innovations in writing. An international jury is currently selecting the best proposals. The winner proposal will receive 13,000 euros. The prizes are contributed by Skion Water, RWW and Isle Utilities. The submitted videos (if approved) will be available online later.
The conference is co-hosted with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Alumni Reunion, the largest funding organization of its kind in the world. DAAD fellows of the international BMBF fellowship program "Sustainable Water Management" will hold their meeting on November 16, 2021 and will also participate in the conference.
