Accelerating the green transition for a sustainable Europe

At European level, research and innovation funding is currently being prepared for the period from 2028. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is providing impetus in the field of sustainability research. These contributions are intended to be incorporated into the development of the successor program to Horizon Europe.

In the WRAP 2.0 research programme, scientists investigated the impacts of climate change on West Africa. For example, longer and more intense dry seasons are having an increasing impact on local agriculture.

Back for the future

BMBF research programme PalMod III simulates the climate from the last warm period through the ice age into the future in order to better predict climate change. Prof. Gerrit Lohmann explains why the simulation of the climate over the last 130,000 years is so important in order to make more reliable predictions about the development of climate change over the next centuries and millennia.
