Joint Call on "Water for Circular Economy" Open

The European partnership "Water4All", supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) among others, launched its third Joint Transnational Call on September 12, 2024.

The new Water4All call on "Water for Circular Economy" funds transnational collaborative projects that develop new, integrated approaches to water reuse and resource recovery and valorization. Proposals are sought for innovative tools, methods and approaches for governance and management, or contributions to the development of new value chains, improved water resource efficiency, improved water allocation and optimized water use in water-dependent sectors.

The call covers a total of four topics. However, German partners can only receive funding in these three areas:

  • Enhancement of water circularity in industries
  • Resource recovery and valorization
  • Economic, environmental and social implications of water reuse and recovered products

36 funding organizations from 21 countries have joined forces for the announcement. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is participating on the German side.

A detailed description of the topics can be found in the call announcement on the Joint Call website. Proposals must be submitted in English to the Call Secretariat (Projektträger Karlsruhe (PTKA)) via an online submission tool. The application procedure consists of two steps:

The deadline for the submission of pre-proposals is November 13, 2024 at 15:00 (CEST). The Call Secretariat will invite project coordinators with successful pre-proposals to submit a full proposal to the responsible project management agency (Projektträger Karlsruhe - PTKA) by April 29, 2025, 15:00 (CEST).

Information on submission, admission and evaluation criteria and other relevant information is available on the call website

An information webinar for applicants will be held on October, 2nd, 2024 at 13:30 CEST. More information will follow soon.
